Headaches
Headache relief when the neck is involved
When the ache behind the eyes tracks with a stiff neck and a long desk day, the cervical spine deserves a real look.
When headaches and the neck connect
Not every headache is a chiropractic case. Migraine patterns, sinus pressure, and medication overuse each need their own path. Dr. Rae is clear about that on day one.
What he does treat are headaches that rise with neck and upper-back mechanics. The ones that follow eight hours of screen time. The ones that sit at the base of the skull after a tense drive. The ones that ease a little when you rub the traps and come back the next afternoon.
Patients from Ada County often describe the same loop: ibuprofen, darker room, still tight by dinner. If the cervical joints are part of that loop, adjusting the neck without explaining the connection wastes your time. The exam comes first.

How we evaluate the pattern
You map the headache: location, triggers, sleep, screens, caffeine, and what already failed. Dr. Rae examines the cervical and upper thoracic spine for restricted segments and protective muscle tone.
He tells you what he found before any hands-on care. If the story points away from a mechanical problem, he says so and points you toward the right next step. If the neck is involved, you leave with a plan that matches the findings.
Follow-ups track frequency and intensity in your words. Fewer morning headaches. Fewer mid-week temple days. Better tolerance for a normal Boise workweek.
What a visit looks like
New patients get time. You are not rushed from a clipboard into an adjustment room. Dr. Rae wants the timeline of the pain, not a checkbox.
When an adjustment is indicated, it is specific to the levels that failed the exam. Between visits you get short guidance on desk setup and what to watch for so a flare does not surprise you.
